Even if you\u2019re ranking high for your target keyword, that status is not permanent. Competitors may try and \u201csteal\u201d your spot, or Google may lower your rankings when your content becomes outdated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So you need to keep your content up to date to maintain your rankings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The easiest way to find out which content you should refresh is to install our free <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/wordpress-seo-plugin\">WordPress SEO plugin<\/a> and run an audit. The audit will tell you which articles you should be updating.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To find out <em>exactly <\/em>what aspects you need to refresh, look at the search results to see what the top-ranking posts have that you don\u2019t. Often, ranking drops occur because certain parts of your content are outdated. For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Screenshots<\/li>\n<li>Process<\/li>\n<li>Stats<\/li>\n<li>Links (broken, etc)<\/li>\n<li>Year in the\u00a0title<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Depending on the target keyword, sometimes refreshing the outdated sections will suffice. In other cases, you may find that you need to do a full rewrite of the article. Collaborate with other brands to tap into their audience<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>For most businesses, there are plenty of non-competing brands with the same or similar target audience. So why not work together to cross-promote to each other\u2019s audience?<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what we did with Buffer, a social media scheduling tool.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We arranged a joint webinar titled \u201cHow to Build Your Website Traffic With Evergreen Content and Social Media.\u201d Then both brands heavily promoted the webinar on social media leading up to day\u00a0zero.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Post-webinar, Buffer created a <a href=\"https:\/\/buffer.com\/resources\/increase-website-traffic\">blog post<\/a> summarizing the presentation, while we posted the recording on YouTube and uploaded the presentation slides on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/ahrefs\/how-to-build-your-website-traffic-with-evergreen-content-and-social-media-116779432\">SlideShare<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"\/>\n<p>Takeaway: look for opportunities to partner with brands that solve different problems for a similar audience. Share barebones posts on Reddit<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>With over <a href=\"https:\/\/foundationinc.co\/lab\/reddit-statistics\/\">330 million<\/a> monthly active users, it seems a no-brainer to promote on Reddit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With one exception: Reddit hates marketing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If Redditors catch even a whiff of self-promotion, they will not hesitate to downvote your post, delete it, or even ban you from the subreddit. Its users are only antagonistic to spammers. So to promote on Reddit, you can replicate what Tim\u00a0did:<\/p>\n<p>Take one of your blog posts, strip away all internal and external links, format it in markdown, and share it on a relevant subreddit. Only at the end do you leave a link back to your original blog\u00a0post.<\/p>\n<p>Notice that even though it was a \u201ctl;dr,\u201d it was still meaty with tons of helpful information for Redditors. The post was valuable on its own, whether or not people clicked through the link. That\u2019s what you should be aiming for.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"sidenote\">\n<p>Sidenote.<\/p>\n<p> Don\u2019t promote every new post you publish on Reddit. That makes you a spammer. While you should strive to answer most of them, sometimes it\u2019s just impossible to weave them naturally into your content.<\/p>\n<p>You can solve this by adding an FAQ section at the end of your article. Most importantly, they have the ability to share your content with their audience and send tons of traffic to your\u00a0site.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The easiest way to find amplifiers in your niche is to use <a href=\"https:\/\/sparktoro.com\/\">SparkToro<\/a>.
