In this article, we\u2019ll see how to find and fix technical SEO issues, but only those that can seriously affect your rankings.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019d like to follow along, get Ahrefs Webmaster Tools<\/a> and Google Search Console<\/a> (both are free) and check for the following issues.<\/p>\n

Indexability is a webpage\u2019s ability to be indexed by search engines. Pages that are not indexable can\u2019t be displayed on the search engine results pages and can\u2019t bring in any search traffic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Three requirements must be met for a page to be indexable:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The page must be crawlable.<\/strong> If you haven\u2019t blocked Googlebot from entering the page robots.txt<\/a> or you have a website with fewer than 1,000 pages, you probably don\u2019t have an issue\u00a0there.\u00a0<\/li>\n
  2. The page must not have a noindex tag<\/strong> (more on that in a\u00a0bit).<\/li>\n
  3. The page must be <\/strong>canonical<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>(i.e., the main version).\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Open Site Audit<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n
    2. Go to the Indexability<\/strong> report\u00a0<\/li>\n
    3. Click on issues related to canonicalization and \u201cnoindex\u201d to see affected pages<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
