This can be your homepage. But in most cases, it\u2019ll be an informational resource or interactive tool. If you don\u2019t have that, read <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/link-bait\/\">our guide to creating link bait<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re good to go, follow this process:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Find relevant resource pages<\/li>\n<li>Vet the\u00a0pages<\/li>\n<li>Reach out and suggest your resource<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>1. It\u2019s also best to keep it quite broad, as you\u2019ll struggle to find relevant results if you go too\u00a0niche.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>If you want even more search operators, use <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1ZvbJSRrYoXWhZ58RSF2fNSgAFT7sauLiXa1FLZMWBO4\/copy\">this Google sheet<\/a>. All you have to do is add up to 10 keywords in the highlighted cells, then head over to the \u201cResults\u201d tab where you\u2019ll have hundreds of search operators ready to\u00a0go.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/image15.gif\" alt=\"How to use the resource page search operator sheet&#10;\" class=\"wp-image-154254\" width=\"451\" height=\"465\"\/><\/noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/image15.gif\" alt=\"How to use the resource page search operator sheet&#10;\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-154254\" width=\"451\" height=\"465\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>Finally, you can merge all the exported CSVs using <a href=\"https:\/\/merge-csv.com\/\">this website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"recommendation\">\n<p>Time-saving tip<\/p>\n<div class=\"recommendation-content\">\n<p>If this process sounds like too much hard work, fill in <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1ZvbJSRrYoXWhZ58RSF2fNSgAFT7sauLiXa1FLZMWBO4\/copy\">the Google sheet<\/a> with your keywords and send them to your virtual assistant along with these instructions:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Install Ahrefs\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/seo-toolbar\">SEO Toolbar<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Open this Google sheet: [insert link]<\/li>\n<li>Click the first link \u201cSERP link\u201d in the tab labeled \u201cResults\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Click the \u201cExport CSV\u201d button on the Ahrefs overlay in the search results<\/li>\n<li>Repeat this for the other operators in the\u00a0sheet<\/li>\n<li>Use <a href=\"https:\/\/merge-csv.com\/\">this website<\/a> to merge the CSVs into\u00a0one\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Send the final \u201cmaster\u201d CSV file to me, and bill for your\u00a0time\u00a0\ud83d\ude42\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Or, if you prefer an automated solution, use a tool like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scrapebox.com\/\">ScrapeBox<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/linkprospector.citationlabs.com\/\">Citation Labs Link Prospector<\/a>. Just keep in mind that neither of these are free. You\u2019ll need proxies for ScrapeBox, and scrapes in Citation Labs cost $1\u2013$5 a\u00a0pop.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>2. Vet the\u00a0pages<\/h3>\n<p>Not all of the results you scraped from Google will be relevant, so you need to vet them before reaching out. This is a two-step process:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Filter and eliminate using metrics<\/li>\n<li>Manually review the remaining pages<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>A. If you\u2019re not sure where to start, here\u2019s my suggestion:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Domain Rating (DR) &gt;=\u00a010<\/li>\n<li>Domain Search Traffic (ST): &gt;=\u00a05000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This should be enough to cut the list down by around 70%.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sidenote\">\n<p>Sidenote.<\/p>\n<p> You can also filter the URL column to remove pages from certain websites, like Twitter or Facebook.<\/p><\/div>\n<h4>B. Manually review the remaining pages<\/h4>\n<p>The easiest way to do this is to open the remaining URLs in batches of five to 10 and review the pages manually. You can use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openallurls.com\/\">openallurls.com<\/a> to make this easier.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This process is a bit subjective, but you\u2019re basically looking for pages\u00a0that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Link out to external resources.<\/li>\n<li>Link to other topically related resources.<\/li>\n<li>Look like someone cares about maintaining them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But most importantly, you should look to identify the pages where the addition of your link will add value. Reach out and suggest your resource<\/h3>\n<p>Lastly, you need to find the person responsible for maintaining each resource page and let them know your content exists.<\/p>\n<p>That goes something like\u00a0this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hey, [Name].<\/li>\n<li>Just came across your list of resources here: https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/resource-page-link-building\/.<\/li>\n<li>We just created [x].<\/li>\n<li>It might make a worthwhile addition to the\u00a0page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"sidenote\">\n<p>Sidenote.<\/p>\n<p> I\u2019ve purposely paraphrased this template to encourage you to add your own creative flair.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Here are a few tips to get the most from your efforts:<\/p>\n<h4>Tip 1. Respect their preferred contact method<\/h4>\n<p>Mail merges are your friend when it comes to doing <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/outreach\/\">email outreach<\/a> at scale. But you shouldn\u2019t ignore the person\u2019s preferred contact method just to make your life easier.<\/p>\n<p>If someone says you should submit resources using a contact form, respect their wishes.<\/p>\n<h4>Tip 2. Email the person responsible for the\u00a0page<\/h4>\n<p>Emailing <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/cdn-cgi\/l\/email-protection\" class=\"__cf_email__\" data-cfemail=\"88e1e6eee7c8ece7e5e9e1e6a6ebe7e5\">[email\u00a0protected]<\/a> is usually avoidable. It\u2019s what lazy marketers do when they can\u2019t be bothered to hunt down a real person\u2019s email address.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t be <em>that<\/em> marketer. Make an effort to figure out who\u2019s responsible for the page and contact them directly. Your conversion rate will thank you for\u00a0it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h4>Tip 3. Tell them where the link should go<\/h4>\n<p>Links on resource pages are often divided into subgroups. Don\u2019t hesitate to tell the recipient where you think your resource should be placed. It\u2019s helpful.<\/p>\n<h4>Tip 4. Point out broken links on the\u00a0page<\/h4>\n<p>Broken links on a resource page are yet another incentive for the site owner to edit them. That makes it easy to templatize outreach emails using custom mail-merge fields in popular <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/link-building-tools\/\">outreach tools<\/a> like BuzzStream, Pitchbox, and Mailshake.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Tip 5. Don\u2019t\u00a0pay<\/h4>\n<p>Buying links is against <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/docs\/essentials\/spam-policies?hl=en&amp;visit_id=638122542363689677-4005781231&amp;rd=1#link-spam\">Google\u2019s guidelines<\/a>. But why stop there? There are plenty of other ways to find even more resource pages.<\/p>\n<p>Here are three of\u00a0them:\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>1. Search the backlink profiles of sites with known resource page\u00a0links<\/h3>\n<p>Given that resource page link building is a common <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/link-building-strategies\/\">link building tactic<\/a>, if a page has a link from one resource page, it probably has links from other resource pages.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how to find those resource pages:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Crawl your vetted list of resource pages with Screaming Frog<\/li>\n<li>Go to <em>Bulk Export &gt;
