Identify your organic competitors\u00a0<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>If you want to get an overview of the organic search competition in your industry, the first step is to identify your competitors.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It takes less than 30 seconds to do this using Ahrefs\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/site-explorer\">Site Explorer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s start by entering a domain in the search box. This gives you a quick overview of their performance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Moving along the top row to the right-hand side, we can learn more\u00a0about:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Competitor\u2019s keywords<\/li>\n<li>Common keywords\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Target\u2019s keywords<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Clicking on the numbers takes us to different variations of the <strong>Content Gap <\/strong>report. How much effort will I need to put in to surpass my competitor?<\/li>\n<li><strong>I check the \u201ctraffic\u201d column<\/strong> \u2013 How much organic traffic are these keywords driving on your competitor\u2019s site? What\u2019s the\u00a0prize?<\/li>\n<li><strong>I check the SERP features in the URL column<\/strong> \u2013 Does it have any SERP features I can try to rank\u00a0for?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From this analysis, it\u2019s possible to determine whether targeting these keywords is worth your time.
