Align your blog post with search intent<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Google wants to serve its users with the most relevant content. It does this by understanding <em>why<\/em> a searcher is looking for a particular topic. Optimize for featured snippets<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Featured snippets are quick answers to search queries displayed at the top of the SERPs. Get someone with expertise or experience to create the content<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Google aims to reward pages that demonstrate E-E-A-T:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Experience<\/strong> \u2013 Firsthand or life experience in the\u00a0topic.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Expertise<\/strong> \u2013 High level of knowledge or skill in a particular field.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Authoritativeness<\/strong> \u2013 Reputation, particularly among other experts and influencers in the industry.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Trustworthiness<\/strong> \u2013 Legitimacy, transparency, and accuracy of the website and its content.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Put simply: Google rewards content that displays evidence of <strong>expertise or experience.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"sidenote\">\n<p>Sidenote.<\/p>\n<p> This is especially important if you\u2019re writing about medical, financial, or legal topics. Google calls these Your Money or Your Life (YMYL) topics and requires you to have formal expertise.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For example, most of our blog content is created by our marketing team: a team built from SEOs and marketers with years of experience. For example, my colleague, <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/author\/chris-haines\/\">Chris Haines<\/a>, has 10 years of experience working in an SEO agency.<\/p>\n<p>Even then, when we\u2019re covering topics where we do not have firsthand experience, we\u2019ll reach out to experts. For example, we interviewed several SEO experts like <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Marie_Haynes\">Marie Haynes<\/a> to create an <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/google-penalties\/\">article about Google penalties<\/a>\u2014a topic that she is well known to specialize in.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll want to do the same for your content too.<\/p>\n<p>It can be simple things like actually using the products you\u2019re reviewing. Add internal links to relevant resources<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Internal links are important for three main reasons:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>They help Google discover new\u00a0pages.<\/li>\n<li>They help Google understand what your page is about via <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/anchor-text\/\">anchor text<\/a>: the clickable words in the\u00a0link.<\/li>\n<li>They pass <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/google-pagerank\/\">PageRank<\/a>, which is an important <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/google-ranking-factors\/\">Google ranking factor<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>So not only do you want to add internal links to other relevant pages on your site, but you\u2019ll also want to add them to your newly published posts\u00a0too.<\/p>\n<p>The easiest way to find relevant pages to internally link to is to perform a site search. Your images can rank and send traffic your way\u00a0too.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how to optimize them:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Compress your images<\/strong> \u2013 This makes file sizes smaller and helps your <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/advanced-pagespeed-guide\/\">page speed<\/a>. You can use a tool like <a href=\"https:\/\/shortpixel.com\/\">ShortPixel<\/a> to do\u00a0this.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Use descriptive filenames<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/docs\/advanced\/guidelines\/google-images\">Google says<\/a> that filenames give it clues about the image\u2019s subject matter. Be descriptive and succinct and use dashes between words.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Use descriptive <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/alt-text\/\"><strong>alt text<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 Google also uses this to understand the subject matter of an image. Again, be descriptive and concise. Don\u2019t go overboard\u2014one or two is fine. Use <a href=\"https:\/\/smartblogger.com\/power-words\/\">this list<\/a> to find ones that match your content.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t clickbait<\/strong> \u2013 #4 won\u2019t shock your readers. Clickbait title tags may work in the short term but will damage your brand in the long term.
