This means all identifying information is blanketed, including your IP address. No tracking cookies are used either.<\/p>\n<p>Startpage also complies with <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/General_Data_Protection_Regulation\">GDPR<\/a>, a European Union regulation that protects users\u2019 data. This means tracking cookies and personal identifiers, such as IP addresses, are not stored.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the fact that DuckDuckGo\u2019s results are pulled from <a href=\"https:\/\/help.duckduckgo.com\/results\/sources\/?redir=1\">over 400 sources<\/a> (including Microsoft\u2019s Bing), DuckDuckGo assures its users that it doesn\u2019t share any personal information with\u00a0them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The same applies to <a href=\"https:\/\/spreadprivacy.com\/duckassist-launch\/\">DuckAssist<\/a>\u2014a new type of InstantAnswers in DuckDuckGo\u2019s SERPs\u2014powered by large language models from OpenAI and Anthropic. DuckDuckGo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slashgear.com\/1221723\/duckduckgo-launches-its-own-ai-tool-duckassist\/\">says<\/a> it doesn\u2019t share any data with the two content partners.<\/p>\n<p>A possible downside for DuckDuckGo is that it\u2019s based in the U.S., which conducts mass surveillance programs like <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/PRISM\">PRISM<\/a>. Its founders include Brendan Eich (creator of JavaScript and co-founder of browser Mozilla Firefox) and Brian Bondy (former senior platform engineer at Mozilla).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While it used to be reliant on Google and Bing for its SERPs, it\u2019s now moved on to complete search independence. For all other languages, results are pulled from Bing. Its servers run on renewable energy.<\/p>\n<p>Results are pulled from Scopia, Bing, OneNewspage, and OneNewspage (Video), so they\u2019re pretty timely. You can also deselect the search engines used or create a blacklist of websites in the settings.<\/p>\n<p>We like how <a href=\"https:\/\/metager.org\/datenschutz\/\">transparent<\/a> MetaGer is in its handling of user information, from queries to maps. CelebrityNetWorth\u2019s traffic declined by 65% in a year and Brian Warner, the founder, had to <a href=\"https:\/\/theoutline.com\/post\/1399\/how-google-ate-celebritynetworth-com\">lay off half his staff<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We want to change that. We don\u2019t want a search model where search engines generate more revenue from content than the creators themselves. That\u2019s why we created Yep.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Think of it like YouTube.
