Focus on a profitable niche you\u2019re passionate about<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Blogging is hard work. But to find out if a niche is profitable, Google it and see if (and how) the ranking sites are monetizing. Pick WordPress as your blogging platform<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Don\u2019t get stuck in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Analysis_paralysis\">analysis paralysis<\/a> and spend months deciding blogging platforms. Just go with WordPress.<\/p>\n<p>Why? Set up Google Analytics<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Google Analytics (GA) is the most used analytics tool. Know who you want to read your content<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Native speakers don\u2019t buy language courses. Learners do. If you\u2019re teaching Korean, the latter is who you want reading your content.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why identifying your ideal reader is important. It informs what type of topics you should cover.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t have to be overly complex. Start with a single sentence and refine it later on. Target topics people are searching for<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In all, <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/seo-statistics\/\">53.3% of all website traffic<\/a> comes from organic search. So if you want consistent traffic coming to your blog, <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/how-to-rank-higher-on-google\/\">ranking high on Google<\/a> is your best\u00a0bet.<\/p>\n<p>To do that, you need to target topics people are searching for. Tackle your competitors\u2019 topics too<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Imagine a crystal ball that tells you exactly which of your competitors\u2019 articles got the most traffic. For example, Beardbrand\u2019s article on beard styles gets an estimated 50,000 monthly search visits. Be mindful of search intent<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Search intent is the <em>why<\/em> behind a search query. Google aims to understand that so it can serve the most relevant results.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So if you want to stand a higher chance of ranking, you want to match search intent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To figure out search intent, simply Google your target keyword and look at the top-ranking results. Create a \u201cWrite 100 blog posts\u201d project<\/h2>\n<p>Once, a ceramics teacher divided a class into two groups:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Group #1 was to be graded solely on the quantity of work produced.<\/li>\n<li>Group #2 was to be graded solely on the quality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the final day, a surprising fact emerged. <strong>The works of the highest quality were produced by the group graded for quantity.<\/strong> The \u201cquantity\u201d group produced a lot and learned from their mistakes, while the \u201cquality\u201d group sat theorizing for perfection and ended up producing nothing.<\/p>\n<p>Quantity leads to quality. The more you create, the better you become.<\/p>\n<p>As of this writing, I\u2019m at 93 blog posts written for Ahrefs. This will keep you accountable and force you to \u201cpractice.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final thoughts<\/h2>\n<p>Blogging is hard. But you\u2019re not\u00a0alone.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve gone through the ups and downs. And with that experience, I\u2019ve charted the path for you.
