You still need keywords with traffic potential, optimized content, and lots of quality links. Moreover, most if not all <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/seo-techniques\/\">SEO tactics<\/a> that work for other companies will work here,\u00a0too.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The only thing that <em>really <\/em>makes a difference is the unique ways you can leverage your product to drive targeted traffic with a higher probability of converting. Find out who competes with you on Google\u00a0<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Organic competitors are a different thing than direct business competitors.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>An organic competitor is any website that ranks for the same keywords as you. This includes not just direct business competitors, but also blogs by industry experts, affiliate websites, and other relevant online platforms<\/p>\n<p>All these types of websites also want a piece of the \u201corganic search\u201d cake. Consider this an <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/seo-competitor-analysis\/\">SEO competitor analysis<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The main goal here is to find out what works for your competitors in terms of\u00a0the:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Best performing website sections.<\/li>\n<li>Best performing pages.<\/li>\n<li>Types of content that attract the most backlinks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Best performing website sections<\/h4>\n<p>Do your competitors drive most of their organic traffic to a blog, product pages, tool pages, a knowledge base, or even some other type of content? A lot of them cover <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/marketing-funnels\/\">top-of-the-funnel<\/a> topics that have huge search demand. So make sure those content ideas are relevant to your target audience.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of content that attract the most\u00a0links<\/h4>\n<p>You\u2019ve probably heard that backlinks are one of the most important <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/google-ranking-factors\/\">ranking factors in SEO<\/a>. It\u2019s no wonder <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/link-building\/\">attracting and building good links<\/a> to your content is\u00a0hard.<\/p>\n<p>Some pieces of content can get links much easier than others, though. In SEO, we call this <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/link-bait\/\">link bait content<\/a>. This type of content doesn\u2019t necessarily need to drive organic traffic, but it\u2019s valuable, interesting, or unique enough to make other people reference it on their websites.<\/p>\n<p>As with the previous reports in Ahrefs\u2019 Site Explorer, you can also find out which of your competitors\u2019 pages get the most links. But there\u2019s still a type of content that doesn\u2019t necessarily need to be driven by traffic potential: industry insights and studies.<\/p>\n<p>The beauty of SaaS businesses is that they often have tons of data that can be analyzed and interpreted into industry insights. Claims with data or interesting findings are pieces of information that find their way into many articles.<\/p>\n<p>As with the free tools, this is a type of content that a writer can\u2019t usually produce alone. You\u2019ll probably need help from your data science team. Just make sure that the hypotheses and potential findings truly stand out; this will help you achieve your desired SEO outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>One more thing. <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/content-distribution\/\">Content distribution<\/a> plays an even more important role here (as compared to content distribution for your standard articles). In the end, if there\u2019s no search volume, then you need to actively push the content in front of people\u2019s eyes to get clicks. Here are a few tips for\u00a0that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/blogger-outreach\/\">Plan an outreach campaign<\/a> to get backlinks and\/or exposure from prominent people in your\u00a0niche.<\/li>\n<li>Promote the content using social media ads on top of the standard organic social posts that usually have limited reach.<\/li>\n<li>Share it with your email subscribers.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/marketing-tactics\/#repurpose-your-content\">Repurpose your content<\/a> into social media posts, answers on Quora, newsletters, etc., and then share repeatedly.<\/li>\n<li>Update your <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/internal-links-for-seo\/\">internal links<\/a> so readers of your other articles can click through and pages can pass their link equities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"recommendation\">\n<p>Tip<\/p>\n<div class=\"recommendation-content\">Creating original studies doesn\u2019t necessarily require lengthy or complex projects, nor do you always have to do them in-house. In the programmatic approach, you tackle a broad topic with 10s or even 100s of similar pages created in an automatic or a semi-automatic way at\u00a0once.<\/p>\n<p>Zapier is a legendary example of <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/programmatic-seo\/\">programmatic SEO<\/a>. For example, you could create a glossary of basic terms in your niche or a hub where you share similar data points on something relevant to your audience (e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/top\">this directory<\/a> of SEO data on top pages on the\u00a0web).\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The easiest way to do this is to look for patterns among keywords using keyword modifiers. For instance, let\u2019s say that cost of living is something relevant to your business and your audience.
