Back in April 2025, we found that AI Overviews reduced clicks to top-ranking content by 34.5%, despite Google\u2019s statements to the contrary.<\/p>\n

Since then, AI Overviews have rolled out to more countries and more languages, and many websites have continued to see the clicks from organic search decline month-over-month.<\/p>\n

Today, it seems likely that the impact of AI Overviews has worsened. As I wrote in our previous study:<\/a><\/p>\n

Assuming AI Overviews stay in this current form, this is also likely the highest the CTR will be. As the novelty wears off and the law of shitty clickthroughs kicks in, I would expect to see clicks reduce further.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

To find out, we re-ran our study using data from December 2025.<\/p>\n

We found that the presence of an AI Overview now correlates with a 58% lower average clickthrough rate<\/strong> for the top-ranking page.<\/p>\n
